Hall of Robots

Ro-man

Featured in the film "Robot Monster" (1953)

Part gorilla suit, part deep-sea diving helmet, and part TV antenna, the Ro-man (or extension XJ-2 of the Ro-men as their leader the "Great Guidance" calls him) is one of the worst movie monsters I've had the pleasure to witness.

Ro-man came to earth armed with a death ray that can blast a rocket ship out of the sky, some sort of vaguely defined detection beam, and some machinery that -- I am not making this up -- makes bubbles. After killing all but six humans on our planet, he falls in love with an earth woman, so the Guidance destroys him.

Oh, and then we find out the whole thing has been the dream of a little kid who got bonked on the head. I'm still having flashbacks...
