Hall of Robots
NanitesFeatured in Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Evolution"These submicroscopic robots were originally designed for surgery in the nucleus of cells. Manufactured in Dakar (which would be in Senegal on current day earth) they seem inordinately powerful, with quite a large bit of processing power. Of course, everybody's least favorite character, Wesley Crusher starts messing with them and they become sentient and run rampant throughout the Enterprise. Eventually these sentient self-reproducing nanites were sumped on planet Kavis Alpha IV to start their own colony. Also featured in: Mystery Science Theater 3000
Introduced after the show moved to the Sci-Fi Channel, these cute little guys were also quite powerful, able to fix just about anything. Some moments of note include when Shelly the nanite gave Mike really big hair, and when a whole slew of them (including their leader Ned) died fighting mites in Mike's eyebrows. My favorite moment, however, was when Servo decided to shrink himself and go harass them -- but ends up getting beat up in the "bad part of town" by some hoodlum nanites.
