The night watchmen of the future, these robots were installed in the Park Plaza Mall to deter any night-time shenanigans. When a thunderstorm shorts out the control panel, the robots go berserk and start to kill the teens having a party in their father's furniture store.
Best of all, the robots are nearly bulletproof, and are armed with LASERS. How the robots would ever safely apprehend somebody sporting a beam weapon powerful enough to detonate someone's head is beyond me. Maybe it was the power surge...
On a quick trivia note, this greatly entertaining movie was also released under the title "Killbots".
