LandruFeatured in the classic Star Trek episode "The Return of the Archons"
The mysterious ruler of planet Beta III, Landru's monklike "lawgivers" roam the face of the world helping to enforce his orders. Of course, the inhabitants of Beta III have no idea that Landru is in fact a thousands of years old computer.
After proclaiming that the outsiders must be "absorbed into the body", Landru zaps Sulu with some sort of energy beam. Kirk gets suspicious, and goes down to the planet to kick some butt -- eventually destroying Landru. Seems like pretty harsh treatment for a ruler who orders his people to partake of a twelve hour nooky-fest, doesn't it?
